Overall a decent experience. Ordered Chole Bhature and a north Indian thali. Both dishes were alright, nothing going crazy about it but also not a fake Indian food either, which is most of the Indian restaurant in Sydney unfortunately. Spice levels are ok, food is fresh and not overly oily. Staff is good and accommodating. Need to pay extra for extra chole. The Dal and curries in the tali were good and changes quite often - we had different curries the next time we went there.
Visited Taj Indian Sweets & Restaurant โ Surry Hills and had a great experience. The Paneer Tikka Masala was awesome, and the laccha paratha, Kashmiri naan, and plain roti were all delicious. My family especially loved the laccha paratha. The mango lassi was also really good. The staff was very welcoming โ the lady taking orders was helpful and always smiling, and the manager handled everything really well. We even met the chef who made our dishes, and he was amazing. Highly recommended for everyone !! But specially recommended to Pure Vegeterian people.
I got some assorted takeaway indian sweets and truly enjoyed every single piece. The food rating I have is for their sweets. Taj has a good variety of indian sweets that are freshly made. They are made ready for consumption in the shop or ready for takeaway. The staff who attended to us was friendly, patient and meticulous. As we knew little of Indian sweets, he took the time to explain each one and was mindful of recommending those he knew met our dietary asks. For takeaway, customers can choose between buying the number of pieces or any combination of variety by weight. The sweets were fresh and surprisingly not overly sweet. They accept either cash or card. Please note to come here, it is either by driving or bus.
I flew back to India for Diwali and wanted my colleagues in Australia to taste authentic Indian sweets โ Taj Indian Sweets was the obvious choice. Mr. Karan Sharma didnโt just deliver sweets, he delivered an experience. From the start he was thoughtful โ calling me back after I left note with the call attendee before Navratri and greeting me by name on the delivery day. That simple act showed how much they value their customers and how thoughtfully they build brand loyalty. The sweets? Absolutely top-notch โ every colleague raved and many became instant fans. Despite the festival rush, Karan went the extra mile: he arranged perfect-timed delivery, rescheduled once without charging a rupee extra, and โ at my request โ hand-wrote Diwali wishes on each box. That tiny personal touch made the gifts feel warm, genuine, and memorable. If you want authentic Indian flavors, flawless service, and a personal touch that truly matters, I highly recommend Taj Indian Sweets โ and a special thanks to Mr. Karan Sharma for making our Diwali extra special. ๐โจ
The food here is absolutely outstanding and tastes just like Delhi and Gurgaon. Being as Haryanvi, Iโve tried many restaurants across Sydney, but this place truly nails it. Their rasmalai, vrat ki thali, chole bhature, and stuffed parathas (mooli, gobi, and aloo) are far better than anything Iโve had in Harris Park. Every dish is full of authentic flavorโChatkazz doesnโt even come close. The staff, especially Anjali and Karan, are always warm, welcoming, and consistent in their service. I discovered this restaurant about three years ago, and since then Iโve been a loyal fan. Highly recommend!
