The NYE banquet was average at best. For $95 per person I expect the food to at least be served hot and fresh. It was not. The dumplings were a mixed range of temperatures from cold to luke warm (and one was even hot - that was nice). The Mongolian beef was luke warm, yet we watched other tables receive theirs still sizzling. If you want quality and good value yum cha style food you had best head to basically anywhere in Sunnybank rather than this place. The Sappa Road cocktail tasted like a basic no frills juice from a popper. I really really wanted to like this place because the decor and the ambiance is so cool with beautiful greenery like a trendy pocket of urban jungle oasis in Brisbane. As always in fairness I must highlight the good - the Kingfish sashimi was absolutely delicious. Itโs just too bad nothing else was.
I loved how welcoming JD was to me and to my friends when we arrived. Since it was our 1st time JD suggested the restaurant's best menu and his recommendation, it's nice that JD knows the best seller and his personal recommendation to us , it is soooo good and worth it. The prawns truffle were now my fave ๐ซฃ๐๐๐ Thanks JD for warm accommodations.
Great experience. We came for the yum cha Sunday bottomless. Cocktails and food were amazing and staff were so nice. We never felt rushed and service was fast. I can't recommend enough for a Sunday outing!
A wonderful meal as always! My husband and I visited for Friday lunch in celebration of my birthday and I was greeted with a complimentary glass of sparkling, loved this thoughtful extra touch. We were seated in the courtyard on a beautiful spring day, service was impeccable, food was delicious (I can never go past those truffle spring rolls) and the drinks went down well in the sunshine. Already looking forward to my next visit.
I visited Southside for my besties birthday last weekend, hereโs a few dishes I canโt recommend highly enough. Iโll definitely be back! **Yellowtail Kingfish Sashimi** โ An umami delight with a subtle saltiness, this is one of the better kingfish sashimi Iโve had in ages. Flawlessly executed, it offers a perfect harmony of flavours. **Potato & Truffle Spring Roll with Spiced Vinegar** โ A robust truffle flavour, paired with a gooey, melted cheese texture inside. **Truffle Prawn Toast with Citrus Mayo** โ This is the ultimate prawn toast! If you're a fan, donโt miss this one. The truffle flavour is pleasantly pronounced but not overwhelming, creating a beautiful contrast with the crispy toast and the sweet-salty shredded prawns. **Crispy Rainbow Beef with Peking Sauce and Golden Sesame** โ The delicate, almost transparent tempura coating the tender beef really elevates this dish. A very moreish combination of savoury and sweet flavours. **Crispy Salt & Pepper Tofu with Wakame and Vinegar** โ We received this by accident , and as someone who typically doesnโt gravitate towards tofu, I could have devoured the whole dish if we hadnโt had more courses to follow. The super crisp tempura coating paired with perfectly salted tofu left me surprised how much I enjoyed it. I highly recommend Southside for anyone looking to share a range of small to medium plates. The food we enjoyed was exceptional, and the waitstaff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Iโll definitely be returning!
