I do not understand what the rave is about at Sinjeon. This is supposed to be a Korean street-style comfort food - bunsik. Okay, fair. But just because it is a bunsik, it does not mean that you can serve things of random quality. Let's take the tteokboggi - the main highlight. Really spicey, but that's about it. Really couldn't enjoy any taste. Okay, let's move onto the jjajangmyeon. This is literally instant jjapaghetti noodles with some chili powder. Why make a good instant noodle spicey? Why? What's the point? Isn't the whole point of a jjajangmyeon to be sweet and salty? Moving onto the japchae. I have no idea whether this is a japchae or a salad. Seriously, what is going on at this place? Now the one saving grace was the kimchi fried rice. Now this was genuinely a great kimchi fried rice with plenty of kimchi and innards, went well with the bulgogi and the fried egg. It had the appropriate amount of fresh veggies to complement. This was really good. But again, this shouldn't be the highlight of the Korean streetfood scene. Sinjeon is trying to take Korean streetfood to some other equilibrium. Great effort. But they're getting it really wrong. Choose a direciton. If you're going premium, make the effort to use premium ingredients and pursue the upgraded flavor. If going fusion inventive, then declare it as such and don't use original names. Disappointed and was confused.

I found out about this place on instagram so I thought I’d try it after work. The vegan bibimbap is very nice with extra soy sauce while having excellent portions for just $14 not to mention taste is just as good. Another good thing about this place is that they play very good k pop songs in the background. It is also as halal as possible with separate utensils and the pork being prepared separately. Definitely coming here everytime I’m in Haymarket. Shout out to the chefs in the kitchen they nail it everytime

The Mog Champ sends his regards. Tried their Sinjeon in Melbourne for the first time and had dinner tonight here, the service is quick and the staff are friendly. The food is also delicious! We had a few different items, the honey soy chicken, beef kimbap, dumplings, japchae and seaweed rolls. They were just right for three people and it only came down to around $21 per person which is a fine price especially if you're dining in the city! It's a good value meal that I'd recommend for those people who like Korean food. Thanks for the dinner Sinjeon! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

We ordered takeaway and loved it! The Spicy Veg Ramen was delicious and flavorful. The bibimbap was also yummy. We'll definitely be back to try more dishes soon!

Favourite kimbap in sydney hands down!! They’re quite large in size, very generous with the filling and not too much rice which I prefer. The tuna kimbap is very creamy and nicely seasoned, spam & egg has a perfect meat to veg ratio, and the bulgogi kimbap has an amazing bulgogi flavour and texture! The classic tteokbokki however had a strong curry flavour and the rice cakes seemed soggy so we were a little let down after paying $18. But! Dipping the kimbap in the tteokbokki sauce was a 10/10 combination. Definitely will stick to ordering just the kimbap, worth $13 :)
