An Impressive First Visit โ Food, Atmosphere, and Service Aligned: First visit, and it set a very high benchmark. The counter seating and warm red-lit interior create a refined yet inviting atmosphere, and watching the kitchen in action adds to the experience. Every dish was thoughtfully executed. Clean, fresh sashimi, excellent prawn toast with great texture, and a beautifully savoury chawanmushi. The don bowls were the highlight. Well-balanced, indulgent without being heavy, and finished with real care. Drinks selection was spot on and paired naturally with the food. Service was friendly, polished, and genuinely attentive. Special thanks to the owners and staff for making our first visit such a memorable one. A restaurant that leaves you already planning the next booking.
Came here for lunch and was lucky to get a counter seat for the sushi omakase. There are only eight seats for the sushi omakase with two courses to choose from; the pricier one has four extra pieces of nigiri but there is also the option to order additional pieces after. The same sushi omakase is available for both lunch and dinner, highly recommend making a reservation and mention the omakase in case all the seats are taken. I had the expensive course which included two types of sashimi, eleven sushi and a fish bone broth. The sushi chef was friendly; for each piece that was served he explained where the fish/seafood came from and the toppings that was added. I think there was about three different fish that was dry aged which included tuna, snapper and swordfish. The dry aging process was very noticeable on the texture of the fish, giving it a firmer and meatier texture as a result of the reduced water content in the fish; flavourwise it was similar. Everything was tasty; the sushi rice was good and the ratio of rice to topping was balanced. Highlight was the dry aged swordfish sashimi, the flame seared mentaiko prawn nigiri and the flounder nigiri which was seared with Japanese charcoal and topped with chopped tuna. The fish bone broth was also very nice, clean with a deep umami flavour. Also tried the uni and snow crab rosti from the ala carte menu; the pairing of the fresh seafood contrasting with the rich savoury and crispy rosti was pretty good. Overall enjoyed the sushi course and the casual dining experience allowing flexibility on the course and the start time.
Sachi Melbourne just launched an amazing lunch set! Only $38.5pp for a super premium omakase-style meal! Such great value for the quality. The Sachi Don sashimi was incredibly fresh, and the unagi chazuke had that rich, savoury flavour that hits all the right notes. Everything tasted clean, balanced, and beautifully presented. Definitely one of the best lunch deals in the city!
Sachi is a new modern Japanese eatery in the CBD. After having multiple successful pop-ups across Melbourne, theyโve finally found a home on Queen St. The venue is very sleek and futuristic. Thereโs table seating as well as a long counter bar great for those who are dining the omakase menu, if you want a view of the kitchen in action, or for solo diners. They have a $68.5 set menu that came with 4 courses (with add ons available for extra). Started off with 2 small plates - the miso salmon sashimi which was buttery and fresh, and the prawn toast which was crispy and fluffy. For the main, you can select your Don - I chose the signature Sachi Don which is their take on a chirashi-style don. It was delicious - it had a very good variety of seafood including salmon, tuna, kingfish, prawn, unagi, scallop, all very fresh and high quality. The rice portion isnโt very big which was perfect for me as this meant the seafood-to-rice ratio leaned more to the seafood side. However, those who have a bigger appetite may find the rice portion a little small. Finished off with dessert which was a miso bread and butter. It was served warm, with a scoop of ice cream on the side to balance the richness. Overall it was a really good experience. The service was very friendly and my water was constantly topped up. Will definitely need to come back to try their omakase!
A beautiful spot delivering standout bowls with luxe touches; the flavors were clean, rich, and genuinely delicious, but the bill climbs quickly if you get too excited ๐ . Sachi offers range of bowls with a standard option and also more premium range is smart and consumer first. Food and drinks โข The seafood bowls were vibrant and well balanced, with creamy roe and egg yolk adding richness to sweet crab, decent uni, and fresh cuts like salmon and scallop that tasted pristine. โข Portions are pretty lean r rather than hearty, so the price to quantity ratio may feel steep, yet the ingredient quality and plating are undeniably high. Service โข Service was okay and pretty functional, but more premium touch points are okay for the price point. โข Food and drinks took a while to arrive, which may be due to the high involvement dishes and a very busy room, but the wait is still noticeable. โข I did want to flag to management that we were only given a set menu and not the ร la carte menu, which for many non confrontational customers could be an issue. Luckily we are not too shy to ask. โข I personally think what could bring sachi to a clear 5 star venue and a must go would be to bringing in a few veteran floor staff could lift timing, guidance, and warmth to match the strong kitchen and vibe. Menu structure โข The standard versus premium tiering is excellent, making it easy to tailor spend while still accessing core signatures. โข It is a thoughtful model for diners who want to sample highlights without committing to the priciest route. Special request โข Big thanks to the team for accommodating an off menu swordfish sashimi, fresh and lightly dressed, which turned into a decent extra. Bottom line โข Come for top notch seafood bowls and polished vibes, budget for premium pricing, and expect good but sometimes slow service on busy nights. With smoother menu communication and a couple of seasoned waiters, this place could jump from very good to great.
