I come here for pho very often and yes I think I should finally review it, from my experience the pho here is clean and delicious, good portions and price.

I visited Pho Doan Vien restaurant and ordered their signature Combination Broken Rice with Charcoal Grill Pork Chop for an astonishing $23.9. While I understand that a restaurant named "Pho" may not specialize in broken rice, charging this premium price ($5–$7 more) than most quality Vietnamese restaurants suggests a superior product. The menu image and the name "Charcoal Grill Pork Chop" set a clear expectation: a thick, smoky, quality cut of meat, which is why I accepted the high price. However, the actual dish was a massive letdown and borderline false advertising. Crucially, the pork chop was NOT charcoal-grilled. It completely lacked the char, deep color, and distinctive smoky flavor of true charcoal grilling. It tasted and looked like a regular pan-fried or oven-baked chop. The cut of meat was significantly thinner than the juicy, thick piece shown in the menu photo. I acknowledge the disclaimer: "A presentation may differ from image." But my complaint is not about plating. The issue lies in the substance and quality of the main ingredient. The cooking method (Charcoal Grill) is a fundamental feature that justifies the price and is explicitly named. Failing to use it is a breach of the product promise. The difference in meat thickness relates directly to value and ingredient quality, not just presentation. Pho Doan Vien is charging a top-tier price while delivering a subpar, misrepresented product. This is unacceptable. Poor value for money.

This has always been a reliable go to for Phó, but recently the name and ownership had changed and I hadn't had a chance to try the new cuisine. It has been recommended by a good friend, so decided to give it a whirl. A reasonablly priced large combination Phó and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee is the staple I normally use to judge an establishment. Think of it as a baseline control test. Pho Doan Vien soup size was good and just over $20 which is typical now for inner city, and to be honest, most places now. Plenty of fresh ingredients and accompaniments, the sliced beef still a little pink as it cooked in the piping hot broth, which was a nice authentic touch. Stock was clean and flavourful. What really struck me was the delicious smokey aroma coming from the coffee. One of the best I've had in a while, strong and impactful. It came out completed, which is fine, but I do love it when I get to watch the dripper at work and mix the condensed milk in myself. Love the feel of the thickly laminated and colourful menu with a good selection of drinks available, although the clipboard style for the aforementioned beverages didn't hold up to the food menus high standard. Definitely will come again.

Had an amazing meal! 🙆🏻‍♀️ The combination wrap, roast pork with steamed rice, and Tomyum seafood noodle soup were all delicious, and the fresh vegetables made everything even better. The three color beans dessert was tasty! The service was fantastic. Friendly staff and quick. My friend and I left with a full belly and a big smile. Highly recommend this place! 🫶🏻✨️

Popped in for lunch at Pho Doan Vien today and we had an amazing experience today. The Pho was absolutely delicious-the broth was rich and full of flavour, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was inviting, the decor had a lovely vibe and making us comfortable. Whether you’re there for a quick lunch or a long dinner, it’s a place that you can relax and enjoy your meal. The service was exceptional with friendly staff and they were making sure that we had the best experience. They even took the time to recommend their best dished. I’ll definitely be coming back☺️
