Had a really enjoyable dinner. There was 4 of us. We the Atum de escabeche and Acorda as starters, and Hispi cabbage and Arroz de Marisco as mains, and the cheesecake and pork/egg pudding for dessert. The dishes are pricey however all of the dishes were very flavourful. Wouldn't mind coming back.

Fantastic restaurant, we were seated at the kitchen counter so we got to witness the elegant chaos in the kitchen and it was fantastic. We absolutely loved witnessing the beauty coming out of the kitchen! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was incredible and the service was next level. Loved it here and we will be back, highly recommend!

My what a wonderful experience this restaurant is. Combing red brick and LED strip lighting this Portuguese restaurant is very very good. Great food which so well reflects its country of origin. The deserts though are an absolute star. They give you flavours and textures I have not thought possible. Rounding it off with great staff this atmospheric restaurant deserves to be seen. Highly recommended

Visually All Sizzle โ€“ but Marmelo Misses the Mark when it comes to Food. We visited Marmelo on Christmas Eve 2025 with high expectations. What we got was a beautiful room, lovely serviceโ€ฆ and food that simply couldnโ€™t keep up with the price tag. To be fair, the atmosphere is excellent and the staff were warm, polished, and genuinely engaging without being intrusive. First impressions were strong. Then the food arrived. The oysters were the undeniable highlight โ€” fresh, succulent, and the best thing we ate all night. Interesting thing with the Oysters is they were not cooked and I am questioning is this why they were so nice ? The seafood soup followed as a distant second, respectable but hardly memorable. The seafood risotto, however, was a disaster. The rice was well cooked and carried great depth of flavour, but the seafood itself was dry and overcooked, it was hardly succulent, which defeats the entire purpose of the dish. At $168 per serve to share, the portion was laughably small โ€” nowhere near enough for four people, and barely sufficient for two. We also ordered the $210 eye fillet at 800g, cooked a textbook medium rare โ€” and then promptly ruined by an excessive amount of chewy, unrendered bits. At that price point, chewing should not be part of the experience. Paying $210 for frustration is hard to justify. The potatoes were bland and completely unseasoned, adding nothing, donโ€™t get them and stay away. While the green salad was fresh and genuinely enjoyable โ€” a rare win on the table. Dessert sealed the disappointment. A $38 cheesecake, marginally larger than a donut, soft and pleasant, but utterly forgettable. At that price, it should wow. It didnโ€™t whisper. The cheesecake was far from a show stopper and actually now thinking about it was a let down. Marmelo has all the bells and whistles โ€” stunning fit-out, professional service, great energy โ€” but from our familyโ€™s experience, itโ€™s a restaurant that looks far better than it eats. We left underwhelmed, unsatisfied, and questioning the value. Although some dishes were priced high, the issue for us is not the price. If the food and depth of flavours held their own - the experience would be far different. Unfortunately the food journey at Marmelo missed the mark easily. I might return if someone else is paying. Otherwise, this is one table I wonโ€™t be rushing back to.

A Portuguese inspired restaurant in Melbourne CBD! The restaurant has a large space, area for the bar, well spaced tables and seats overseeing the kitchen. Service was professional and was great to interact with the chef's whilst deciding what to pick from the menu. The ingredients and flavours were on point. A few stand outs were the croquette, warm oyster, seafood rice and the cheese cake. The seafood cooked on the wood fire oven was perfect. This restaurant is great for any occasion and has an extensive beverage list. Highly recommend and will come back next time to try their other dishes ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
