Iโ€™ve passed by Lola Cocina in Crows Nest more times than I can count โ€” finally made a booking, and Iโ€™m glad I did. It sits right in the heart of Crows Nest, with that cozy village-street feel and an open frontage so you can catch the buzz. The food felt legitimately Spanish โ€” tapas, paella, charcuterie, the works. We shared a few small plates and a paella, and for the most part everything was bold, flavourful, and fun to graze through. I especially liked how their dรฉcor leans rustic and warm โ€” it doesnโ€™t feel pretentious, just inviting.

The young lady that was helping us was really good. The tapas were okay. The highlight of this tapas for me is the scallops and I like-ish the mini empanadas. The potato was not crunchy. The tentacles taste weird - overall good experience but not going back.

We ordered the paella marisco for two, but it was just average. The cockles and mussels were relatively small and dry, and the rice lacked the distinct flavour typically associated with paella. I also noticed that queso manchego was not listed on the menu. Additionally, the tapas menu was minimal. The deafening music made it feel more like a club than a restaurant. However, the staff were pleasant and friendly, despite the average food.

We came for lunch on the weekend and really enjoyed the experience. Everything was super fresh and full of flavour. We mainly ordered from the tapas menu, highly recommend the meatballs, potatoes, ceviche, sardines, and the pork belly, which was also a winner. We also tried the jamon and cod croquettes, but found them a bit underwhelming. The traditional red sangria was delicious and paired perfectly with the food. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. Overall, a great lunch, weโ€™d definitely come back!
