Visited during the Australian Open season โ easy tram ride from Rod Laver Arena. A hidden gem in the city serving creative Malaysian fusion that really suits Asian palates. Loved the Maotai crispy roast duck (crispy skin, tender meat), and the lotus leaf steamed mud crab with glutinous rice and foie gras was the standout. The kingfish was fresh and refreshing. Pandan lava cake was a perfect not-too-sweet finish. Great drinks too, especially the Chinese wines and the sangria โ one of the best Iโve had in Melbourne. Would definitely return.
Surprisingly the food (fusion Asian-Penang-Malaysian) was excellent. It was a fine dining style setup and the food were good for sharing. We were the 1st customer of the day and was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary entreรฉ, king prawn toast, molten salted duck egg and it was lovely and just nice for the pallet before the stogginess gets to you. Loved the chargrilled Laddon Valley lamb as one of our mains. As a Malaysian and a Penangite, I have to say the chef did an brilliant job at creating these fusion dishes that gives a very tasty and satisfying fusion and new twists to our beloved Penang & Malaysian dishes. Keep it up! Caleb the manager did a great job at recommendations for all our dishes was all great recommendations with a good balance between heavy and light, savoury and sweet. Think his boss should consider giving him a good year end bonus ๐คฃโค๏ธ
Such a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience here as my palate was pampered with a twist of Malaysian fusion dishes from Char Koay Teow, Cantonese fried rice, fish as well as lamb. Although familiar with the dishes, the Chef could somehow still surprised me as I found modernity and the current culinary trend in all the dishes. Place wise, it is casually high-end but you will still feel the elegance and luxury of having the Malaysian dishes here. I really recommend this place for those who are eager to try the South East Asian food, and this restaurant is really suitable for gathering with family as well as friends.
Love the setup from the entrance and You know the food will not disappoint. Interesting take on bespoke familiar Malaysian/Singapore food. The popular Laksa Bomb lived up to its name. We had crab meat Caesar salad , prawn toast , clay pot rice, raw kingfish , eggplant. Dessert was the ooh lala Pandan Lava cake. The service was impeccable. Special mention to chirpy Laurel with her positive energy.
I went here a few days ago and honestly, it really exceeded my expectations. The food was not only good, but every single dish had such a unique flavor that pleasantly surprised me, itโs the kind of taste that really stays with you. The way the flavors blended together was super smooth, nothing felt overpowering, just perfectly balanced. The service was also amazing. From the moment we came in, everyone was so friendly and made us feel really comfortable, almost like being welcomed by friends. Definitely one of those hidden gems that deserve more recognition.
