I came here on Wednesday night with a friend who had never been. I had told her how great it was and that she needed to try, as I have had really good experience with this location as well as locations in Victoria in the past. I'm not sure what was going on with the staff though. My reservation was for 7pm and we were on time and seated at 7pm. We didn't get offered any table water or anything. At 7:30 after no interaction with staff, we managed to flag a waiter to ask if we could just order at least some drinks to get started. We were able to then order food and drinks, but it was still about 30 minutes before both of us had received our drinks and food. I was a little disappointed with this, I would expect at least to be served a drink 40 minutes into a booked table. The girl working the bar did look visibly quite stressed and perhaps they were understaffed that night, I totally understand that. However I wish that a waiter could at least acknowledge us and maybe to just let us know that they were busy and that we hadn't been forgotten. I will still be coming back because as usual the food and drinks were excellent. Really amazing quality and flavour and a great menu of options. No complaints there!

Hecho en México is an amazing Mexican spot with heaps of vegetarian options, which I really appreciate. The jalapeño poppers were incredible, and the margarita was great too. The food is full of flavour and genuinely delicious — definitely one of the better Mexican places around. The only downside is the layout. The place feels quite congested, especially on busy nights like Fridays and Saturdays. Everything becomes a bit too tight, and it can feel cramped. Considering how busy they get, a renovation or layout refresh might really help improve the dining experience. Overall, fantastic food and great flavours, just wish the space felt a little more comfortable during peak times.

I literally spend my life finding great Mexican places to eat, and I came across this place on a google search for Gluten Free food in Adelaide. If you love flavourful food, great atmosphere, please come here! Lillian, thank you for your amazing service! You’re the best x

Been to Hecho En Mexico Adelaide CBD a few times lately, including one time when attending for a birthday with a group. Did not receive the birthday special that is mentioned on the website (free churro or birthday shot) even though we specified in the booking it was for a birthday. Have enjoyed the food and drinks each time when visiting. Particular items we enjoyed include the Cali Burrito, Tacos, Enchilada and Guacamole with chips. It's a little bit on the expensive side but the atmosphere is good at night- and it's in a great location on Peel Street. When booking for a group, we received a text message requesting a deposit (not a hold) of $10 per person, which was only payable via bank transfer to a name that does not at all look associated to Hecho en Mexico. On the day of the booking, when we went to pay the remainder of the bill, it was an incredibly confusing and difficult process, where the staff member deducted small amounts from each item on the bill up to the deposit amount, and then asked us to pay the remainder of the total in one go with no ability to split the items, which made it really hard to work out how much everyone's meals were. The receipt that was given was ripped right across the section which had the totals and very faintly showed that there was a weekend surcharge (which was not made aware to us at the time of booking). We asked for another copy of the receipt it was not given. Please be aware of this process when booking for a group. Overall, would come back here for the food alone, but would not do a group booking again.
