Dropped by for a quick bite before heading to a show so we were the first patrons to enter but then it started to fill up pretty quickly so I guess this place has a following. We enjoyed a simple early dinner of Korean fried chicken, chips and Korean cold noodles. Both the chicken and noodles were so well executed it made the simple dishes stand out and exceeded our expectations. The chicken was both crispy and juicy. We had it with the spicy chilli sauce which had a great balance of flavours and heat. It was as if they knew me and my preferences. The cold noodles were chewy and slippery, the perfect texture and the noodle soup was so tasty and refreshing i could have had seconds if I had two stomachs ... Not sold on the pieces of cold pork belly had came with the meal as it didn't add much in my experience. But the noodles and soup more than make up for this.
Disappointing Experience. Iโve never given a 1* review but it was that bad. 1. Rice was lumpy and came out late. It was lukewarm and tasted microwaved. 2. Kimchi soup tasted powdery and we became very thirsty afterwards. 3. Kimchi pancake was wet and soggy. Other places have crispier pancakes. 4. We wanted to flag down an employee, they just walked past. Sides didnโt come out and we had to ask for sides. Pasta tasted too sweet. Thereโs just no love for food here.
We were really excited to try this restaurant because of its great reviews, but the experience ended up being a major disappointment. To begin with, they offer a free drink in exchange for reviews โ which likely explains their unusually high rating. We made sure to order only dishes that were not marked as spicy, since I canโt handle spicy food. However, when the Volcano Hot Pot arrived, I told the server, โI donโt like spicy at all,โ and she still added half of the red spicy paste on top, making the dish extremely spicy. Even my friend, who enjoys spicy food, agreed it was overwhelmingly hot. When I let her know I couldnโt keep eating because my mouth was burning, she just laughed and said that mala means spicy in Korean โ something I was apparently supposed to know โ and then walked away, showing no concern that I couldnโt eat anything after spending $70 on food. Lastly, even setting aside the spice issue, the quality of the dishes was disappointing. The meat was chewy and greasy, and the pancake was overly oily and fried, with very little flavor. Overall, an unfortunate experience with poor costumer service.
Amazing experience from the time I walked in to the food. Ambience is very cute korean vibes. The best cheese and corn Iโve had in Melbourne. Very fast service. Would definitely come back!
Been here twice now, would recommend, lots of space for larger groups and a good atmosphere. Not a fan of the volcano hotpot, the meat is very chewy, the soup base itself is nice. The fried chicken and kimchi pancake were delicious, I would definitely go back again to have these multiple times, a big highlight.
