Went to this place for lunch on a Sun. Place got busy, but there were still tables free. The food was good. We got a Teriyaki Chicken Donburi (23 dollars), a Teriyaki Beef Steak Donburi (25), a Chicken Karaage (16) and a bowl of plain Udon noodles for 12 dollars. A pot of hot green tea/rice tea was 7.50 I think. The place was spacious, not too many tables in the restaurant. Not too difficult to find free parking
You can tell whether a Japanese restaurant is authentic by how they cook their rice. The rice here was perfectly cookedโsticky and glossy just the way it should be. The chicken was moist and tender, with crispy grilled edges. The food was absolutely satisfying. However, the staff were very unfriendly. When I first walked in, she barely greeted me. I asked if there was Wi-Fi available, and she said there should be a network called โekiben guest.โ When I asked for the password, she just said she didnโt know. If she donโt know, shouldnโt she at least ask someone else or let customers know itโs not available? It was a really disappointing experience. Such a shame, because the food was excellent. Addition, no drink water served.
Great place - Ekiben was amazing. Stopped for lunch. Highly recommend. Nice, quite ambience. Good service. Parking was a bit difficult - had to search for a spot in rhe street for some time.
Venue: Street parking. An old house was decorated in industrial style. Not packed. Quiet during weekdays. Clean & tiday. A bit cold in the winter when open was kept opening. Outdoor dining is available. --- 7.2/10 Service: one staff only. To be seated. Tap water was served. Order and pay at the front desk. Reasonable waiting time for food. Mains were served at the same time. Long business hours here. --- 7.3/10 F&B: Simple menu. Provides Japanese style food. Good presentation. Good portion. Resonable prices. - Chicken Katsu Sando with Wasabi Mayo, $25: served with lotus root chips and green salad with bonito flakes. Well-toasted. Cripsy katsu chicken was thick and moist inside. Good portion of crispy lotus root chips. --- 8/10 - Ebi Tempura Ekiben, $28: There were 4 prawns served with warm dipping sauce, mixed pickles, steamed rice, salad with Japanese dressing, potatoes salad with dried shrimps in the bento box. Tempura prawns looked like popcorn prawns were crispy and good in size. --- 8/10
Great meal, although I will say it is more on the expensive side for what you get. Food was well balanced, wished there were more side dishes that came with the bento sets. Pleasant environment, staff were extremely friendly with recommendations to food and drinks, and were especially helpful accommodating our big group. Although a little confused with the plastic containers that were used to serve the meal, usually when paying a meal with $25+ youโd expect real bento boxes but Iโm just being picky. Overall great place, would come again
