I had an exceptional dining experience here. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, with flavors that were beautifully balanced, also The seasoning was precise, highlighting the natural character of each ingredient rather than masking it. Service was warm and attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between refined and welcoming. Altogether, this restaurant delivers a dining experience that feels both modern and deeply rooted in tradition. I would happily return and highly recommend it.

We dined at Doju and opted for the chef’s selection menu at $150 per person, plus matching wine. Given the price point, expectations were understandably high, but unfortunately the experience didn’t live up to them.. While the food was presented attractively, the flavours were underwhelming overall. Several dishes felt muted rather than refined. For a tasting menu at this level, we expected more depth, balance and creativity across the courses. Service was another letdown. Staff were polite, but inattentive at times, with long gaps between courses and limited engagement or explanation of the dishes. For a premium dining experience, a more polished and attentive service would have gone a long way toward justifying the cost. Doju clearly has ambition and a stylish setting, but when factoring in the high price, the lacklustre service and the fairly average food, the experience felt poor value for money. There are many other Melbourne restaurants offering stronger flavours and more attentive service at a similar or lower price point. Our total bill for 3 people was $850, we didn’t spare the expense but didn’t get anywhere near the level of experience we expected.

I had a wonderful wedding anniversary dinner at Doju. Communication during the booking process was great (they set my expectations for time allotted, confirmed my pre-orders, sent reminders), and service at the restaurant was impeccable. Ambience of the restaurant is lovely and the food was outstanding! My standouts were the Doju potato, galbi, retired dairy cow and guksu. My husband loved the marron. I couldn't have been happier with my experience at Doju and I'd like to come back to try all the snacks!

We did the $125 per person set menu - lots of delicious options here, only regret was not trying the oyster. My personal highlights are the smoked mussels, calamari, beef tartare, sourdough with gochujang butter, pork hock, galbi, Doju potato and hotteok Amazing service and great cocktails as well - almost too easy to drink!
