We went to Debutante for the first time yesterday for my friends birthday, it’s my new favourite place to eat in the Illawarra. The food was amazing, they have a lunch menu which includes $12 cocktails and honestly I could not fault the experience from the food, value for money, moody & cosy atmosphere and the service! We were given lots of time between courses, never felt rushed, the whole meals took us 3 hours, with lots of laughs, fun, it was a total experience and I fully recommend
Really wonderful evening here. Each dish was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. The waitress was so engaging and took the time to guide us through the menu and make recommendations. We asked about certain flavour profiles throughout the meal and if she wasn’t sure she was so efficient in finding out and getting back to us. The open kitchen was bustling but has excellent flow with all aspects playing out with great intention. I personally prefer to be seated in a corner to be able to observe the space but we’re were seated in the middle however while it was quite busy, the floor didn’t seem too noisy or chaotic. We allowed the service team to select our wines which were an excellent match and chose a cocktail that delighted and refreshed the pallet. All round excellent night. I think it’s important to highlight any possible opportunities too in order for the review to be fully helpful but what I’m about to say certainly didn’t dampen the experience at all. We had a caramelised carrot side dish that was honey and cumin and the flavours seemed too detached from the French brassiere story the rest of the meal was telling. It was almost Indian in flavour. We also had the Tatar which had pickled onion that overpowered the beautiful gusto of such refined fresh meat. Those two dishes stood out of place for the rest of the meal but both were still enjoyable. We ordered 4 x entrees 2 x mains and 3 x sides (we like to try a bit of everything) and with that in mind we also experienced stand out dishes. Stracciatella peaches and the oysters were gorgeous and of course the steaks certainly stood up to the repetition. All in all we highly recommend.

My wife and I had a great meal, celebrating our wedding anniversary with a lunch. This was our first time here, it wasn’t cheap, but we also didn’t hold back and you could dine here for cheaper. The food was delicious, especially the steak tartare, the service was quick and responsive and there were no long waits for the food. Good selection of cocktails and wines. We will definitely be back.
