This has always been my favourite place for Korean chicken. I order from here very regularly and often tell people that this is the best Korean chicken place. However, this time was very disappointing. For the first time, the tteokbokki was completely inedible โ the texture was very rubbery. The chicken also had a strong unpleasant smell and tasted like it had been deep-fried twice. What concerned me the most was finding fur on the chicken, which raises questions about the quality of the chicken used. I truly hope this was a one-off issue, because I really like this place and want to continue supporting it
Chicken taste is so authentic and I can say itโs one of the best chickens Iโve tried among them in Korea. The staff is also very friendly and the vibe is so nice. I would love to go and try again next time in Perth for sure โค๏ธ๐๐ป
Delicious Korean fried chicken. A bit of a wait but well worth it. By far the best of a few Korean fried chicken joints tried in Perth. The place is licensed to serve alcohol and has soju. Definitely a nice place to have a chat with friends and family over beer and chicken. Personally loved the rose tokbogi that came with the chicken.
Great food but AVOID PEAK TIMES. No table booking site, only walk-ins allowed so prepare to wait a bit for seating during peak times ๐ช๐ NO PUBLIC TOILETS ON PREMISES ๐ซ๐ป I arrived at Chicken Lab Northbridge as a walk-in ๐ถโโ๏ธ All the indoor seating was taken, so I sat at the last empty table, which was outside the premises. There were ~5 outside tables, spread around and only 2 standing patio heaters so I couldn't feel any heat where I was sitting โ๏ธ If you are sitting outside, also be prepared to hear the dodgy Northbridge noises ๐๐ Indoors, the premises were small, resulting in not many dining tables. It was too loud because of the crowd noises and the music playing ๐ Self-serve water is available indoors ๐ฐ The waitresses were really nice ๐ One saw me sitting outside and she walked outside to ask me about my dine in arrangement. She brought out the menus, plates and cutlery to the table before we ordered food ๐ฝ Ordering food & drink is done by scanning the QR code on the table with your mobile device and ordering online ๐ฑ Food arrived in timely manner. We ordered the boneless Combo Chicken: Golden Crispy & Snowing Cheese flavours, Jjim Dak, Lime Mayo side sauce and Soju Tasting Board. Fried chicken was really good, very crispy and well cooked ๐ Golden Crispy flavour was not overpowering and the batter was not thick, which I prefer ๐งก Snowing Cheese flavour was sweet and not too strong ๐ Potato gems were crispy and cooked well ๐ฅ Jjim Dak: Sweet potatoes and carrots were soft and maintained its form and were not mushy ๐ฅ๐ฅ Glass noodles were slightly chewy and very long. Chicken breast was a bit soft but maintained form and was well cooked ๐ Rice cakes were chewy and nice. Soy sauce flavour was nice, and a bit spicy ๐ถ Steamed rice was also well cooked, not too wet nor dry ๐ The pickled radish and kimchi were fresh and crunchy. The kimchi had really good flavour. Lime mayo sauce had well blended flavours that neither of them were overpowering. The portions between 4 people was more than enough, with a small amount of leftovers. I will recommend this place to my friends ๐ Thank you Chicken Lab Northbridge. Visit Date: Friday 22 August, ~6:50pm.
We have previously been to Chicken Lab in Rivervale & we have always enjoyed our meals. They recently opened this new branch on James Street. Found the place to enjoy much more spacious than the one in Rivervale which is a good thing! Their menu is ample & restaurant is licensed to serve alcohol. There were 3 of us dining & we ordered the Korean Fried Chicken & Tteoboki Combo - 2 half serves of chicken (choose 1 or two flavours), served with potato gems & cubed pickled radish. For the tteokbokki we opted for the Rose (chilli & cream) flavour. Settled for the boneless chicken half original & the other soy garlic flavours combo. We also ordered a serve of Spicy Devil sauce & a bowl of rice on the side. The whole bill came to just under $70. Their chicken was juicy & not oily, great tasting & everything was presented well. Tteokbokki was spicy, served with with plenty of sauce, very nice to dip chicken & consumed with side rice. Staff was welcoming & friendly - enjoyed talking to the owner/host about the meals & the restaurant. Recommend to come early (or at least not during lunch or dinner rush hours) as I think it would be hard to find parking being in Northbridge & may have to wait for tables as most guests are walk-ins.
