Arrived late into Canberra and only a few food places were opened. Settled for thisnplace and ordered the korean barbecue, fried chicken, kimchi pancake and a beef soup. The beef soup is the best among all the dishes were ordered. Service is ok.

Came down to Buttumak for a Christmas evening dinner — and honestly, you’ve got to trust good old Korean restaurants to be open when everyone else isn’t. Christmas Day and night? Legends. The place was clean, spacious, and comfortable, perfect for a relaxed family dinner. The side dishes are free and all-you-can-eat, which immediately puts everyone in a good mood. We ordered the fish roe soup, beef bibimbap, kimchi pancake, handmade tofu, glass noodles, and the steamed egg, which uses bone broth for extra umami — and it absolutely shows. Soft, fluffy, and deeply savoury, it’s comfort food done right. Every dish delivered, but the real surprise was how good the sides were. The seaweed was a standout, the kids demolished the prawn crackers, and we kept going back for more without shame. The kimchi pancake was top notch — crispy, flavourful, and properly done. The handmade tofu with their special sauce was silky, delicate, and didn’t fall apart (a rare and underrated achievement). Service was warm and attentive, and the flavours genuinely made it feel like a very merry Christmas. If you’re looking for great Korean food — especially on a day when options are limited — Buttumak absolutely delivers.

This restaurant has a warm and cozy atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. The food is full of flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The service stands out as exceptional, attentive, friendly, and genuinely focused on making us feel welcome. The chef even came to our table and talked with us. Overall, it’s a wonderful dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and a relaxing environment.

Their dishes are nice, and they are specialised with home made tofu. I enjoyed it. There pork bbq combo deal is great with a reasonable price. But the kimchi fried rice did not have enough kimchi flavour, it was a bit bland. The side dish bar is the hit! A great range of un-limited self serve side dishes is a must to try. As they are still fairly new, a couple of staff members were still learning. I also like their plates. They look very nice and authentic.

Great new addition to Canberra City's food scene. The pork belly pork set was great! Particularly, the tofu is made in house and brings us straight back to Asia. The ox tail soup was ok, good for winter and especially those who like peppery soup. Side dishes are self-serve and they all taste good. Service was good - the owner personally helps to do the BBQ, so no worries about burning the meat. We will be back to try more dishes next time. Also looking forward to new dishes with their awesome tofu.
