Fantastic Vietnamese delights. The prawn lemon grass and chili was absolutely amazing. Char Kway Teow and Fried rice were so delicious with fresh ingredients.
Last night I had a rare positive experience - hospitality is generally anything but. I went in for take away Pho. I ordered the rare beef Pho. They accommodated my request for vegetables in lieu of noodles. No problem, paid $5.00 extra for that. Total $27.00. I got home and there was no beef in the Pho. What? I called and the owner, she asked would I mind coming back and to pick up the the beef. It wasn't ideal, but I wanted the beef. Back in the car, and back to the restaurant. On the way back to the restaurant I was thinking that they would probably just hand me the beef without any kind of compensation for the trouble, as a good quality establishment would - a serving of something from the entree menu, or something. I was expecting just being handed the beef and leaving. To my surprise, when I walked in, the owner came to me with a bag and inside was a container of Pho broth including the beef and a serve of roast duck rice paper rolls and Hoisin sauce. I was very thankful and expressed what I was expecting and that this simple gratuity was very rare and that I'd be back, in sprite of the fault. I was not expecting this and let her know how much appreciated this simple expression was and that her professional response was rare! Just like the beef that was missing. Much appreciated, Bui's. The Pho was great and the duck rice paper rolls went down a treat. Thank you.
Very disappointed with the experience. The โbuttered king prawnโ turned out to be deep-fried. The term โbuttered king prawnโ usually means the prawns are cooked in butter, not necessarily fried. It could be Pan-fried or sautรฉed in butter (most common), and wasnโt mentioned on the menu. The portion was shockingly small for a main dish, especially given the high price. On top of that, the service was non-existent, no one checked on us, no communication throughout the meal. We also called ahead with a simple question, but the lady on the phone was impatient. We even paid a corkage fee, yet they didnโt provide an ice bucket for our bottle. Definitely not worth the money or the visit.
Really disappointed with our visit. The pho was extremely salty, and even after mentioning it to our server, nothing was done. We asked for hot water and lemon to dilute it, but it didnโt help much. It was far too salty. We tried to make the best of it, but the only thing we finished was the tap water on our table. Unfortunately, we wonโt be coming back.
Reservation recommended, nice and clean place with a large menu, well priced and large portions. The service was brilliant, they were very polite. We really enjoyed the dumplings and meat sticks and were very happy with our main dishes. The food came relatively quickly considering it was a Saturday evening and the place was somewhat busy. The corkage fee per person is a bit steep if youโre in a group.
