As a Korean immigrant, Bornga is my absolute "must-visit" every single time Iโ€™m in Sydney. Walking through the doors truly feels like being transported back to Korea; the atmosphere is as authentic as it gets. As a huge fan of Paik Jong-won (๋ฐฑ์ข…์›), I have high expectations for his restaurants, and this location consistently delivers on that world-class standard. โ€‹Signature Dish: You absolutely must try the Chadol Doenjang (์ฐจ๋Œ๋œ์žฅ). It comes with a rice bowl specifically designed for mixing, creating a hearty, soulful meal that tastes like home. โ€‹Quality Meats: The BBQ cuts are incredibly fresh and high-quality. You can taste the difference in every biteโ€”the marbling and texture are always spot on. โ€‹The Vibe & Service: What makes this place truly special is the "young blood" energy. The staff are incredibly enthusiastic and hustle so hard itโ€™s actually motivating to watch. It feels like a live K-drama happening right in front of youโ€”everyone is working with such passion and heart. โ€‹Overall Experience: Itโ€™s more than just a meal; itโ€™s a boost of motivation and a piece of Korea in the heart of Sydney's Chinatown. โ€‹Highly recommended for anyone who wants high-quality K-BBQ served with incredible spirit!

Bornga is a fairly spacious Korean BBQ restaurant, offering a comfortable layout and a good selection of beef and side dishes. The food itself is decent โ€” the beef quality is acceptable and the banchan selection is fine, nothing exceptional but good enough for a regular K-BBQ craving. However, the overall dining experience is affected by the service. One thing that stood out was the attitude of the servers. They were not courteous or friendly, and the interaction felt rushed rather than welcoming. What was more disappointing was that even while we still had food on the grill, the staff started clearing our plates, utensils, and even tried to take the griller. Normally, restaurants wait until the table is completely done eating before packing up anything, but here it felt like they wanted us to finish quickly and leave. This kind of service takes away from the enjoyment of the meal. While the place is big and the food is okay, the rushed and unfriendly service leaves a negative impression. If Bornga could improve how their staff treats guests, the overall experience would be much better.

Saw the good review so decided to try here. We ordered thejr wagyu beef, samgyeopso and the marinated pork samgyeopso. The wagyu one was outstanding, just like the ones you find in japan yakiniku, fatty and melt in mouth feel. The beef samgyeopso which is highly regarded was also very good. The thin and fatty beef absorb the char flavour while it cooks. It doesnt even need a dip to taste good. The pork one however was pretty average and I would not recommend. The unlimited refill of side dishes were also very delicious. Didnt really like the service here though, Im ok they offer advice on how to cook and change the grill. But if they intervene which can cause cross contamination of the raw food, that is not ok. This guy keeps coming to take the tong from raw area and keep touching the cooked stuff that I carefully separated. It felt rush and also I ended up have to reheating the meat again for food safety. Anyway food is good 5/5, service I dislike.

Bornga looks impressive when you walk in. The restaurant has a large space and a nice setup. Unfortunately, the experience did not match the appearance. The meat quality was above average, but nowhere near the top Korean BBQ spots in Sydney, especially at this price range. I would not place it in the top ten KBBQ places I have tried. For the cost, I expected better flavour, better marbling and a better experience overall. Service was mid. It was hard to get staff attention at times, even for basic things like changing our grill or clearing plates. Considering the price point, I expected smoother and more attentive service. A few things made the visit disappointing: * They do not allow birthday celebrations. They would not let us store a cake in the fridge and also would not let us eat the cake inside. No flexibility at all. * Ninety minute time limit even though it is not a buffet. We were rushed, and it affected the experience. * Poor use of space. We booked a table for eight people and were given one single grill to share. It was extremely slow and we could barely cook enough food. Meanwhile, we saw a couple sitting at a large table for six with one grill for just the two of them. For a group booking, the experience felt uncomfortable and impractical. It has been a long time since I have had this many complaints at one restaurant. I would not come back. There are many KBBQ places in Sydney that offer better meat, better value and a more enjoyable dining experience.

Bornga Korean BBQ is easily one of the best Korean BBQ spots around. The meat quality is excellent โ€“ fresh, tender, and flavorful. Everything is grilled to perfection right at your table, and the variety of banchan (side dishes) really adds to the experience. One of the highlights is the self-serve salad bar, which offers a nice selection of fresh greens, sauces, and sides to complement your meal. It's a great touch that adds more variety and balance to the rich BBQ flavors. Service is fast and friendly, and the staff keeps things running smoothly, even when it's busy. A few things to keep in mind: The restaurant is upstairs with no lift access, which might be difficult for some guests. Thereโ€™s a 90-minute time limit, which can feel a bit rushed during peak hours or when dining with a group. Overall, if you're looking for high-quality Korean BBQ with great flavors and a solid salad bar, Bornga is definitely worth a visit. Just plan ahead and come hungry!
