As a lover of banh mi who is used to portion sizes to the tunes of Top Ryde Baker's House in Sydney and meat quality to the likes of Luke's Banh Mi in VIC, my experience with the Triple Meats Roll here was thoroughly disappointing. For $15 (with 2% surcharge on card which brought it to $15.30) I was expecting more in both quality and quantity. Starting with the one redeeming quality imho, the meats were nicely cooked and flavourful. Personally though, a good banh mi must start with a good bread roll, and the bread here simply did not have the signature crispy exterior and soft inside- it was closer in texture and bite to a regular sub. I also found the taste of the pate and mayo were lacking in strength- the expected pungent/creamy notes were overpowered. Instead, the roll seemed to taste mostly of whatever savoury liquid sauce they had drizzled on top, which actually made the last bite of the banh mi overly soggy. The ratio of pickled veg to meat was also off to me. Overall, I'd consider returning to try their non banh mi menu items, but would not recommend their banh mi at least as per my experience today. Unfortunately for me I'm not local to Canberra and there are far too many other spots to try to return on this trip.

The food here is really tasty and the portions are good. I especially loved the grilled pork rice bowl—so yummy! I hope everyone gets to try it.

If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese cuisine that's broader than bahn mi and pho, then BanMe is the place for you. The location is unassuming considering it's behind a car wash, though it is very accessible being in the midst of Braddon and Lonsdale street. There is plenty of seating that is under cover both inside and outside the restaurant. There is also heaters in the enclosed outdoor seating area. The menu is extensive and you can either read the board behind the counter or take the printed versions to the table for a more relaxed perusal. The charcoal bahn mi is fantastic. Loads of pork and full of flavour. Go for the chilli and you're not disappointed. There's plenty of it for the chilli fanatics. Those who have visited Vietnam will find their favourites including ban cha and and egg coffee. Do note though that it's not quite like the famous Hanoi egg coffee that can be had hot or cold. It's still creamy and delicious none the less. The crab rolls are amazing and crisp. Service is friendly and warm. Definitely worth a visit.

Coupled with prompt service and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, this spot delivers a consistently satisfying dining experience.
