I had a few bahn mi before and this was the most disappointing one to me. Before ordering, I asked what "Grilled Pork" ($11) was used and what it was made of. The staff told me yes and it was "pork mince". Thinking it's like kebab meat made of minced meat, so I was shocked to see a spongy red patties, which did not taste like meat and was overly sweet. Couldn't see any grilled marks so couldn't not understand why they called this as "Grilled Pork". They did put "Nem Nuong" beside "Grilled Prok" but I didn't what it was at that time. Besides, what they put inside did not look like the one in Wiki (Nem nฦฐแปng). I couldn't eating these artificially red faked pork patties. Asked adding chilli and didn't taste any chilli at all. Not much veggie. The only OK part was the bread. They shouldn't name this item as "Grilled Pork", as this is misleading. They should also explain clearly when the customers ask what it is. Finally they should provide the real Nem nฦฐแปng, not the faked one.
I recently moved to Sydney and was looking for a good Banh Mi spot, but this was a letdown. I ordered the 'Grilled Pork (Nem Nuong)' Banh Mi based on the English description, expecting actual slices of grilled meat. Two major issues: Misleading Description: Labeling Nem Nuong simply as 'Grilled Pork' is confusing. It should be labeled as 'Pork Patties' or 'Sausage' to avoid confusion for customers who don't speak Vietnamese. Poor Quality: Even for Nem Nuong, this was bad. It was bright red, highly processed, and had a terrible sponge-like texture. It didn't taste fresh at all. The Roast Pork (Crispy Pork) had a bad ratio. It was a lot of hard crackling and fat with little actual meat. The bread was fine, but the fillings are low quality compared to other shops in Sydney.
I ordered the tofu bahn mi with vegan butter and mayo, mild spice. It was only $9! The tofu was juicy and really saucy. The pickled carrots were nice and crunchy. All the veggie were fresh. It was a Sunday at around 5:30 and the quality was still very good!! They had other vegetarian options with mushroom and egg filling. They were all under $10!! Such a good deal, the size was very decent too! Highly recommend especially if you go to USYD haha!
I am shocked and extremely disappointed. While eating the bread I purchased here, I bit into a piece of glass. This is a serious food safety hazard that could have caused major injury. To make matters worse, when I reported this to the staff, they did not apologise and showed no willingness to investigate the issue. The lack of accountability and concern is unacceptable. Food safety and customer care should be top priorities, and however they did not achieve it and this experience has completely made me shocked and angry. I strongly urge the business to take this seriously before someone gets seriously hurt
Possibly the best Bahn Mi Iโve ever had! Crispy bread roll, juicy fillings, just the right amount of chilli and succulent crispy pork. Highly recommend!
