About
Such a great spot in Launceston. The food was awesome, some familiar dishes with the chefโs own twist that hit the spot for me.

I'm going to try to provide some positive feedback after a very disappointing dinner. As a restaurant that touts itself as specialising in steak and seafood it was interesting to find that the choice of seafood as a main is market fish and only two choices of steak. We ordered a bottle of Joseph Chromy NV Cuvee ($80 - Dan Murphy's price $32) but you expect to pay double in a restaurant don't you.๐ค The waiter poured it straight into the glasses as they sat on the table ... Hmmmm. Perhaps some training is required. ๐ค What is the proper etiquette for pouring champagne? Tilting the champagne flute at around a 45-degree angle ensures that the champagne can be gently poured down the glass to slowly pool at the bottom. You should always leave half an inch or so empty at the top of the glass, to make sure that your guests don't spill the champagne. At no stage were our glasses refilled despite there being a total of 6 customers in the whole establishment. I'm old fashioned so perhaps that's how service is done these days. I must admit seeing Fairy bread as a dessert at $18.00 made me chuckle, not really what I expected in a quality modern restaurant, although I'm sure it is probably delicious. Booking online asked if it was a special occasion, which it was, and nothing was said until we paid the $300.00 plus bill and were wished a happy anniversary. I guess I expected better.
sadly disappointing. expensive restaurant with impressive menu, we were the only people in at 5:30pm on a Monday. firstly the good, the wine by the glass was lovely, around $18 but flavoursome. We both had the lamb rump which was well cooked, and tasty although the portions were a little on the small side. but it came with roasted turnip, which was both hard as rocks despite allegedly having been roasted for 3 hours and left a strange antiseptic taste in the mouth. we sent this back, and to be fair were given a free glass of wine each. when returned it was slightly better texture, probably from shallow frying but still the weird taste. urgent exit required (line of duty) paid our bill and left. didnโt feel the restaurant deserved a second chance with dessert. $143 for 2 people, one main course and glass of wine each with olives and almonds to share. felt shortchanged and disappointed.
Such a great spot in Launceston! The food was awesome, some familiar dishes with the chefโs own twist that hit the spot for me. Service was perfect and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The soundproof windows are unreal! you get to enjoy the view of the waterfall and surroundings without hearing a thing, so you can actually talk and relax. Itโs tucked away at the back of Penny Royal, but definitely worth finding. Sometimes thereโs a spirit whisperer behind the bar who makes an incredible Italian Margarita, Iโd honestly seek this out. Pick your night, and make sure this oneโs in your top three in Launnie.
Food and presentation was outstanding. I believe there should be more staff on a Friday night as to get a drink the wait time was long. Overall experience were nice.
If you are in Launceston Alida definitely worth a visit. The food tasted fabulous. Dishes are classy but very well priced and respectable size serving. We had an entree/starter and main each, which left us to full to fit even a shared dessert. We happened to go on a quieter night, which was nice for us. Modern atmosphere with generously spaced comfortable seating. There are different zones to give a different feel. We sat in the main area which was quieter than the waterfall room where the music was playing. Cocktails were well made, can recommend the Raspberry sour or the Dark and Stormy. Will return if given the opportunity.
